Phobias, Fears and General Anxiety

A phobia is when someone loses complete control when exposed to a particular trigger. The trigger may be spiders, confined spaces, open spaces or literally hundreds of other triggers. It is a subconscious response and the person has none or very little control over their terrified response.

A fear is when someone becomes very scared when exposed to a particular trigger. Again the trigger may be spiders, confined spaces, open spaces or literally hundreds of other triggers. It is a subconscious response and the person has very little control. They can use willpower to temporally suppress or push down the subconscious emotional / feeling response.

General Anxiety is the feeling on being on edge most of the time. They are anxious or worried but don’t necessarily have any reason for this. The person generally has very little control of how they feel.

Why is hypnosis so effective in helping people with phobias, fears and general anxiety?
Hypnosis gives direct access to the subconscious mind where the emotion is generated. By changing the “trigger to response” pattern within the subconscious mind the phobia, fear or general anxiety can easily be removed.

What about willpower or logic?
Logically we all know we should not be afraid of spiders in this country. Logically we know looking at blood will not harm us.
However some people faint at the sight of blood.
They have absolutely no control of their subconscious actions. For a phobia, logic or willpower are useless. A person with a strong fear can use willpower to temporally suppress or push down the fear.
As soon as they stop using willpower the fear is back as strong as ever.
For general anxiety the person does not know the cause and can’t do anything about it.
